Ingredients:
2 pounds hamburger (less if
desired)
½ chopped onion (or more)
1 can tomato juice (64 ounce)
1 can red beans (chili beans
if preferred)
1 can tomatoes (whole, diced, or pieces as
preferred)
1 can condensed tomato soup
(to taste)
1 package chili seasoning
(French’s Chilio® preferred)
¼ teaspoon meat seasoning or
to taste (Misty’s®, Lawry’s® or something similar)
salt to taste
pepper to taste
Directions:
Brown hamburger and onion and season with salt, pepper
and meat seasoning. (You should taste
the browned hamburger at this point. If
seasoned properly, the mixture should not have a flat meaty taste.) Add chili seasoning and blend. Add tomatoes, tomato soup (usually just one can but 2 if desired), and
beans. Mix well. Add tomato juice to achieve the desired
consistency (more for a thinner soup less for thicker). Chili can be simmered in a crockpot or on
the stove at low heat (occasional stirring to prevent sticking). Serve with toasted hoagie buns or toasted
hot dog buns for dunking.
The chili can be spiced up (hotter) if desired. Other vegetables (such as corn) may also be
added as a vaiant.
